Contrary to popular belief, there most certainly is an "I" in "team." It is the same "I" that appears three times in "responsibility."

WHO WILL COACH BMEG?

A lot of personalities has been linked as the next head of coach of the Llamados. There are four names floating for the chance of coaching two-time MVP James Yap's team. They are the Petron's assistant Gee Abanilla, Bmeg's assistant Richard Del Rosario, Ginebra's co-coach Jong Uichico and Alaska's mentor Tim Cone, which is for me has the longest shot to take the job. But this is PBA everything can happen. (Nelson Beltran said in his twitter account that Uichico will be the one that will take the job.)

I think that the most logical choice for the Bmeg is Coach Tim Cone, why? now having Andy Barroca, he already have a point guard in his Triangle offense. Andy is ready to take this job, having three years  with coach toroman, it makes Barroca a polished point guard. Also, having Devance, Pingris and Yap will also make the transition of Coach Cone's Triangle an easy one.

BUT as what I said earlier, having Cone is a long shot. And the next logical choice is Ginebra's Jong Uichico, this humble mentor already has 8 championships, and with that alone we can say this man is right for the job. Uichico is a good defensive coach that for me what the Llamados is needed. Also, it will be a nice gesture for SMC to assign Jong as Bmeg's mentor, to avoid the possibility of having him as an assistant for the ginkings, which for me is a sign of disrespect to this multi champion coach.

Meanwhile, Ginebra's former big man Alex Crisano is having a chance of playing in Powerade Tigers.

The Ginebra Ginkings' switch: Will coach jong stay?

Sports & Recreation - Top Blogs Philippines

Malaya's Sport Article:

So it's official, 2 days of speculations about Ginebra's head coach. We thought that "Jawo" may comeback. We also thought of having 2 head coaches. Now after Coach Jong's Text and Mr.Ramon Ang's confirmation, it's now safe to say that Coach Siot is the head coach of the Ginkings this conference. Congrats coach siot!

Now the issue is..

Will Coach Jong be an assistant for the Kings? If he does, it will be an admirable move by this humble guy. Allowing his protege to be the new head coach, gives coach jong a lot of guts of accepting it. And if that happens, it still the same Ginebra Coaching staff. Just a little change of having coach siot's philosophy will be implemented.

Will Coach Jong go to the Llamados? Mr. Ramon Ang also confirms of Coach Jorge being relegated back to assistant coach. The question is will the next head coach of Bmeg will come to its coaching staff, or they will get the the multi champion mentor Coach Jong?

What's your take?

2 HEAD Coaches?

Patricia Hizon's Tweet:

Fidel Mangonon's tweet:

Look's like the coaching issue of the Gin kings is now having a clear view. Earlier Ms. Pat tweeted that having 2 heads is better  than one. Now PBA's statistician confirmed that Coach Jong said in a text that him and coach siot will be the head coaches.

If you are really a Ginebra fan, you will be thrilled with the news, but at the same time you will be confused, who will call the shots? Do alternately method will be used?  What will happen if the two champion coaches  has different philosophies. Example,  last 3 seconds in the game who will take the last shot? Coach jong;s play wants Caguioa to take the shot, while coach siot's play wants Caguioa to be the decoy, then what play will be use?

If this is true, personally I WILL BE THRILLED. And I hope the 2 great coaches can do that new job perfectly.

Does Ginebra Kings needs a Coaching Change?

Sports & Recreation - Top Blogs Philippines

If the rumors are true, there's a big chance that Barangay Ginebra will have a coaching change. It still unclear whether the BGK coaching change will be Coach Siot, Coach Jawo, or just pure rumors and Coach Jong will remain.

Let me ask you guys, do BGK needs a coaching change?

Let us evaluate Coach Jong-Coach Siot tandem this season. The Ginkings did not win a championship this season, BUT  the team qualified to three semifinals appearance including one Championship stint, which for me is not a bad season for them. Actually a good season after they finish 2nd overall in this season. The proof is they rank 9th place out of 10 in the upcoming draft. Back to the topic, do they really NEED to change the coach?

Let us discuss the strengths and weaknesses of every coach:

Coach Jong:

  • Strengths:
  1. He has a good gameplan every game.
  2. Despite the lack of big man, Coach Jong can adjust with the given situation.
  3. A great defensive coach.
  • Weaknesses:
  1. 8-10 players rotation.
  2. Not a good end game/last possesion coach. (proof: 3 conferences, he gave the last play to Eric Menk.)
  3. Less trust to his rookies ( but now improving)
Coach Siot:
  • Strenghts:
  1. A good motivator
  2. BGK fans love this guy
  3. A good offensive coach.
  4. His intense nature fits the BGK's game
  • Weaknesses
  1. Not a good coach if majority of his players are superstars.
  2. Lacks poise
  3. Prone to technical fouls
Coach Jawo:
  • Strenghts:
  1. There's no doubt Ginkings' fans miss this guy
  2. Because of his nature, even the referees gets afraid
  3. A really really good motivator.
  4. If he comes back, the market of BGK will rise again
  • Weaknesses:
  1. His coaching style is too old school.
  2. Just like coach siot, he is prone to technical fouls
  3. full of RUST?
You'll be the judge.
