Contrary to popular belief, there most certainly is an "I" in "team." It is the same "I" that appears three times in "responsibility."

Does Ginebra Kings needs a Coaching Change?

Sports & Recreation - Top Blogs Philippines

If the rumors are true, there's a big chance that Barangay Ginebra will have a coaching change. It still unclear whether the BGK coaching change will be Coach Siot, Coach Jawo, or just pure rumors and Coach Jong will remain.

Let me ask you guys, do BGK needs a coaching change?

Let us evaluate Coach Jong-Coach Siot tandem this season. The Ginkings did not win a championship this season, BUT  the team qualified to three semifinals appearance including one Championship stint, which for me is not a bad season for them. Actually a good season after they finish 2nd overall in this season. The proof is they rank 9th place out of 10 in the upcoming draft. Back to the topic, do they really NEED to change the coach?

Let us discuss the strengths and weaknesses of every coach:

Coach Jong:

  • Strengths:
  1. He has a good gameplan every game.
  2. Despite the lack of big man, Coach Jong can adjust with the given situation.
  3. A great defensive coach.
  • Weaknesses:
  1. 8-10 players rotation.
  2. Not a good end game/last possesion coach. (proof: 3 conferences, he gave the last play to Eric Menk.)
  3. Less trust to his rookies ( but now improving)
Coach Siot:
  • Strenghts:
  1. A good motivator
  2. BGK fans love this guy
  3. A good offensive coach.
  4. His intense nature fits the BGK's game
  • Weaknesses
  1. Not a good coach if majority of his players are superstars.
  2. Lacks poise
  3. Prone to technical fouls
Coach Jawo:
  • Strenghts:
  1. There's no doubt Ginkings' fans miss this guy
  2. Because of his nature, even the referees gets afraid
  3. A really really good motivator.
  4. If he comes back, the market of BGK will rise again
  • Weaknesses:
  1. His coaching style is too old school.
  2. Just like coach siot, he is prone to technical fouls
  3. full of RUST?
You'll be the judge.

  1. nah i don't think so... jawo laos na un eh... and sana nilagay nyo na rin kung ilang championship ung meron yang mga coach na yan... if i remember correctly jong is among the top 3 coaches na may pinakamaraming championship sa buong history ng pba... unlike jawo na meron lang atang 2 or 3 championship...
