Contrary to popular belief, there most certainly is an "I" in "team." It is the same "I" that appears three times in "responsibility."

Triangle in the Llamados

And the new legacy starts now. After weeks of pure speculations,  Coach Tim Cone is finally the head coach of the Llamados. Personally, I've seen this change as a statement of the Conjuanco-owned company, the  SMC, having the MVP team TnT dominated last season, it is not a shocker that changes was made to make the SMC teams better. And so far, this is the best move that SMC has done. Getting the services of this multi-titled mentor for the Llamados makes the Llamados an instant contender for next season.

Can Triangle offense works with the Llamados' line up? Let us now discuss the players of the Llamados that can be useful for this popular offensive strategy.

  • Point Guard that can create. ( In Alaska, Tim had the likes of former MVP Johnny A and LA Tenorio) With the current line-up of the Llamados, they have Gilas stalwart Mark Barroca, Veteran Roger Yap, Spitfire Josh Urbitztondo and the former Tamaraw Jonas Villanueva. With this 4 point guards, we can say that Barroca is the best fit for this job. With that, it will be easier for Tim Cone to use the triangle offense.
  •  Players that can command double team.  Check! With the likes of James Yap, Joe Devance, and Kerby Raymundo.
  • Big Men that is capable of sharing the ball. This is where I can see trouble for the Llamados, Yes, Pingris is a good passer, Devance can pass, Kerby if he's in the mood can also share the ball. But with the three, only Pingris is the only consistent passer. That's why Devance/Raymundo needs to be consistent to avoid trouble for this team.
Honestly, compared to the Aces, Llamados is more of a complete team, and now with 2 weeks left before tip off, the Llamados needs to work double time to master TRIANGLE. Everyone knows that this will be a long process, but if the players are seriously eyeing the big prize, then there will be no problem.

Meanwhile, Johnny Abbarientos and Jeffrey Cariaso will complete the coaching staff for the Llamados. Adding two former players who mastered triangle, will definitely a big help for Cone's new team.
